Recycling paper and plastic containers just became a lot easier for Shadow Creek Ranch and all west end Pearland residents. The city has established a new drop off location for recycled products with large recycling bins.

Unfortunately, this program has been stopped.
There are no more public recycling bins
behind HEB on Business Center Drive!

* This is a note from the city of Pearland:

Keep Pearland Beautiful (KPB) has entered into a 90-day ‘pilot program’ for an additional recycling site at 2805 Business Center Dr. (yellow bins located behind HEB). Now, people located on the west end of town can recycle their papers, milk jugs, water bottles, vegetable cans and all other curbside recycling materials at this location. If, after 90 days, Pearlanders generate enough recyclables to warrant a once a week pick-up, the program will continue. Funds generated from the sale of the recyclables will go to Keep Pearland Beautiful.

Remember the main Pearland Recycling Center on Harkey Road. You can drop off almost any recycling products at the Harkey Road location.

The large green and yellow recycling bins are placed behind the HEB grocery store and retail shopping center on Business Center Dr. You can access the recycle bins from Memorial Hermann Street behind HEB.

 

What can be placed in the ‘pilot program‘ Shadow Creek Ranch recycling bins behind the HEB grocery include:

  • paper recycling
    news papers – catalogs – junk mail – office paper

  • recycling plastic containers
    water bottles – plastic milk bottles

  • recycling metal
    aluminum cans – metal cans – vegetable cans

Remember to recycle green products. Curbside pickup by Waste Management includes yard trimmings.

Effective August 1, 2000 the City of Pearland initiated a separate pickup of yard trimmings. The trimmings are picked up by a separate truck on the residents’ second garbage day of the week and taken to a commercial facility for composting.

To participate, residents should place grass, leaves, flowers, stalks, stems and trimmings in a translucent (semi clear) bag at curbside on their collection day. The weight of the bag should not exceed 35 pounds. Tree limbs and branches should be cut no longer than five feet in length and tied in bundles no larger than 18 inches in diameter and no heavier than 50 pounds. Clear recycling bags for yard trimmings have been found at Home Depot, Lowe’s and Walmart. They are often not found in the store with normal household trash bags. When available, Home Depot and Lowe’s may have them near the paint section with ‘contractor’s bags’.
